Nursery Care
Welcome to Birchwood Presbyterian’s Nursery Program! We want your children to see the love of Christ through the care they receive when they are with us. It is our desire to provide safe and loving care in a clean and nurturing environment. The following is a basic outline of our nursery procedures and policies:
Check-In
Our check-in procedure is designed to ensure your child’s safety. Please sign in your child on the provided form and include any pertinent information, including where you can be found if your child needs you. You and your child will be given tags with corresponding numbers. The name tags on the child will ensure personalized and informed care of each child. After the service, you will return your corresponding tag which will help guarantee your child’s security. *Children will only be released to parents.
Snack
Once during the service the children will be offered a simple snack of crackers and water. The type of snack will be posted at the check-in counter. Please indicate on the check-in sheet whether you want your child to have that snack or not.
Diaper Bags
Please label your diaper bag and personal belongings, especially bottles, cups, pacifiers, and security toys. It is also very helpful to include a change of clothes for your baby.
Illness
Please keep children at home who show signs of illness. These signs include, a fever or new cold within in the last 48 hours, stomach flu symptoms, or an unexplained rash. The nursery attendant is instructed not to admit sick children.
Staying healthy
In an effort to maintain a healthy environment, we advise all volunteers, teachers and parents to wash their hands when entering the nursery and after changing diapers or wiping a runny nose. Children and babies are also encouraged to wash their hands or have them washed before eating and after toileting. Gloves are provided and should be worn when coming in contact with bodily fluids.
Nursery Volunteers
The loving care provided by our volunteers makes our nursery a welcoming place and allows parents to enjoy the worship services without worrying about their children. In order to ensure enough attendants for every child’s comfort and safety we ask that all of our parents serve at least once a quarter.
